Fairy Tea Party

One of the bazillion things I love about having a little girl is all the tea parties we have together. The fun and enchantment of a fairy tea party is especially magical in a flower garden where we take out The Complete Book of Flower Fairies and try to spy a flower fairy or two.
The party wouldn't be complete without a fairy hat and a treat cup for the fairies. We filled the cups with nuts and fruit...you know, fairy food. :)

I put together this Fairy Tea Party ensemble using beautiful papers from Anna Griffin and adhesives from Xyron.

Instructions for the hat:
Using a cone template, trace the pattern paper around the template and cut out. Run a strip of adhesive using the Xyron Mega Runner down the side of the cone, gently roll and secure it together. Adhere Xyron High Tack Adhesive Dots around the bottom of the cone and attach floppy blossom ribbon to the dots. Attach ribbon to the top of the hat as well using Xyron adhesive dots.

Print out "Flower Fairy" and cut out banner style. Adhere floral die cut and flower fairy sentiment to the hat using Xyron adhesive dots.

Instructions the fairy treat cup:
Cut out a strip of paper to the size of your treat cup. Run the strip of paper through the Xyron 5" Creative Station and adhere around the cup. Print out "Fairies Welcome" and cut out banner style. Attach die cut rose and banner to a popsicle stick using Xyron adhesive dots and tuck inside the treat cup. Fill with fairy offerings to attract pixies to your party. :)

Here's my little one scouting out the perfect spot for our fairy tea party.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you catch a fairy or two!

Harvest Topiary

We're still rocking the 90 degree weather here in Utah...but that's not going to stop me from celebrating the oncoming fall!  And I'm celebrating the best way I know how: with a crafty home decor project. Today I'd like to show you a harvest topiary I created using the always fabulous Xyron adhesives

Instructions for the topiary:
Trace different patterns and colors of  paper around each wood cube and cut the squares out.  Using your Xyron Mega Runner, attach adhesive to the back of each square and adhere one square of paper to each block.

Using wood glue, stack each block on top of each other from largest to smallest and let dry. Attach blocks to candlestick using wood glue.

Tie ribbon around the base of the candlestick and tuck a few berry sprigs inside the knot of the bow.

Embellish the topiary with fall berry sprigs and leaves. Print out "Welcome Fall" banner style, cut out and adhere to the middle of the topiary using  Xyron high tack adhesive dots

Line back of embroidery hoop with Xyron Double-Sided High Tack Tape (this stuff sticks crazy good!) and adhere the cut out paper to back of hoop. Accordion fold a strip of paper, bring the ends together by using Xyron Adhesive Dots and attach. Place accordion rosette on top of hoop and attach glitter pumpkin on top of rosette securing with Xyron adhesive dots. Print out "Harvest", cut out banner style and adhere towards top of embroidery hoop using Xyron Double-Sided High Tack Tape.

Halloween Table and Mobile

Hey there!
I am so thrilled to be guest posting for The Wood Connection today!  Halloween is my favorite holiday to decorate for and today I'd love to show you a fun project I've put together.

I made this little table by using a frame and candlestick. It was super quick and easy and I loved how it turned out.
Supplies used:
free printable crow silhouette- nobiggie.net
paint- charcoal
wood glue
mod podge
all supplies from The Wood Connection

Instructions:
Trace paper around the frame and cut out. Print and cut out the crow silhouette to fit inside the frame.
Paint the circle base, candlestick and frame ( I started to paint the top of the frame then realized paper was going to cover it!).

Apply a bit of wood glue to the bottom of the candlestick...
and attach to the circle base.

Apply a thin coat of  Mod Podge to the top of the circle frame.

Attach your pattern paper to the top of the frame and smooth out any bubbles. Place the crow silhouette inside the frame.
Using wood glue, attach the frame to the candlestick and let dry.

That's it for the table! Pretty simple, right? Of course I had to set a couple darling tiny pumpkins from The Wood Connection on top of the table as a little added decor.

Now on to the Halloween mobile! What I love about this project are the tiny little ghosts and pumpkins dangling from the mobile. So cute!
Supplies used:
paint- charcoal
fishing line
wood clue
mod podge
ribbon

Instructions:
Trace overlay onto pattern paper and cut out. Paint the sides of each overlay and let dry.
Trace mini pumpkins and ghosts on pattern paper and cut out.  Paint all sides of the mini pumpkins and ghosts and let those dry as well.

When all the paint has dried, apply mod podge and attach the paper to the wood of the overlay and pumpkins and ghosts. Punch (or use a cutting machine, I used my cricut) circles in different sizes and patterns. I tied four pieces of  fishing line around one of the overlays and placed the second overlay (the one that has the pattern paper) on top and sealed them together with wood glue.

I attached the pumpkins and ghosts by applying a thin coat of mod podge to the back of each piece of wood, then I laid the fishing line across the back and attached a piece of paper on top and let it dry. I used glue dots to attach the circles to the line.

I then looped a bit of polka dot ribbon through the overlay and tied it all together at the top.

And there you have it! A fun little Halloween table and a spooky mobile to match. :)
Thanks so much to The Wood Connection for having me, it's always such a pleasure! They were generous enough to give me a $25.00 gift certificate to their AMAZING store to give to YOU! Just leave a comment and you'll be entered to win! Check back in a few days to see if you're the winner!
Have a wonderful day!

Gold and Teal Party Favors

Have you seen the new Metallic Gold Bitty Bags from Whisker Graphics? They are definitely swoon worthy and are perfect for any occasion!

Today I'd like to show you the gift bag and favor I made using the new gold bitty bags as well as the new solid teal divine twine. Don't you just love the combination of gold and teal together?!

Supplies used:
glitter heart sticker
sequins
tissue garland

For the goodie bag, I  tucked a gold horizontal stripe bitty bag inside a glassine bag, sprinkled a few sequins inside and sewed around the glassine bag. I then sewed around a small gold polka dot bag and attached it to the large bag using a mini clothespin. Attach a glitter sticker and your sentiment to the bag and line the top of the bag with a bit of tissue garland.
I finished the bag off by tying a strand of teal divine twine around the bottom.

For the favor, I cut a gold chevron bag in half and made it into a sleeve. I slipped it around the bottle and secured it with xyron adhesive dots. Just a bit of tissue garland around the middle of the bottle and a strand of teal divine twine around the top of the bottle and that's it!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
