Valentine Decor

Valentine's Day will soon be here and I am in full decorating mode. I LOVE Valentine's Day. It's right up there with Halloween. As much as I adore the classic reds and pinks for Valentine's, this year I wanted to change it up a bit with sea foam blue and gold.

The project today uses my favorite Xyron machine - the 5" Creative Station.  Before my Creative Station came along, I was using glue that would take forever to dry and would bubble up my paper. It drove me nuts! With the Creative Station, I simply feed the paper through the machine and apply it onto the wood block. No mess, no drying time and no bubbled up paper.

Instructions:
Apply acrylic paint to wood blocks, chunky heart, finial and mini candlestick and allow to dry. Using wood glue, attach candlestick to wood block and let dry. Attach finial to top of wood block as well.
Run paper card through the 5" Creative Station and apply to block.

After I painted the wood heart, I cut stretchy sequin trim to fit the heart. I then used my Xyron Mega Runner across the top of the heart and attached the trim. Pretty quick and easy, eh?

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Frozen Birthday Party

Our daughter recently turned 4 and had been dreaming of a Frozen themed birthday party. I was more than happy to make this dream come true! I wanted it to be magical but I didn't want to spend a ton on decorating. Thank heavens for the dollar store.  Dollar Tree had snowflakes galore in every shape and size, so I bought several and hung them up all over the house. I wanted the kids to feel like they were really in Elsa's ice palace.

The invites to the party were made with DCWV glitter cardstock, tied with cream ribbon and embellished with a snowflake and pearl. Inside the envelopes for the invites, I found these darling movie ticket style invitation. Just use photoshop or Picmonkey to fill in all the details of your party.

The goodie bags for the kids were fun and inexpensive. I found these t shirts at Lone Rock Outlet for one dollar! If you go, just know you have to do a little digging in the dollar bins but I was able to find 8 Frozen tshirts with no problem.  The shirts also change color in the sun which made the kids pretty excited. I tied the shirts with ribbon and added little snowflake rings from the dollar store.

Using a basic playdough recipe, I added a little glitter and light blue food coloring for "Elsa's Sparkly Snow Dough"...the kids loved it!

I placed the playdough in a ziplock bag and put the dough in these darling white kraft bags by Whisker Graphics. I made the labels and attached them to the bags. I then punched a whole in the bag and using Aqua Divine Twine, tied a snowflake cookie cutter to the bag.

I found this adorable Frozen scavenger hunt that we played during the party. It was a huge hit and SO much fun. The kids had a blast running around the house searching for the clues.  At the end of the scavenger hunt, the kids found their gift bags with their t shirts and playdough.

For the food place cards, I made the labels and attached them to white kraft bitty bags. I sprayed a bit of spray adhesive on the bags, sprinkled white mica over the bags and filled with basket shred. These little snowballs were found at Joann's and I thought they would be perfect to use as a stand for the place cards. I attached a stick to the back of the white kraft bags and stuck the stick inside the snowballs.

I made a few cakes stands to display the food on by simply gluing a dollar store candlestick to a glass plate (also from the dollar store).

Carrots for Olaf noses..,

Popcorn as snowflakes...

I wanted to buy white donut holes for the snowballs but I only found brownish ones and I wasn't about to drive all around town searching for white donut holes. So, I bought these mini blue cookies instead.

String cheese and crackers for Sven Snacks...
Frozen grapes...

Blue and silver kisses to melt a frozen heart.

And of course, we had to drink melted snow.

Here is the cake. I had no idea what I was doing but somehow it turned out pretty well. At least the 4 year olds ate it up and my sweet husband claimed to love it! ;-)

BEST part of the party for our daughter was the Snow Queen herself, Elsa. When she walked in, our daughter whispered to herself with wide eyes "She is real..."
Elsa told stories, sang and danced with the kids. She also presented a crown to the birthday girl. Our daughter was (and still is!) in absolute heaven over having Elsa come to her party! I cannot describe how incredible she was with the kids, the looks on all their little faces was priceless.

Thank you so much for stopping by and have a magical day!
