EasyPress Mini with Cricut

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

I'm so in love with my EasyPress Mini! Check out all the amazing features this little powerhouse can do!
  • Cricut EasyPress Mini is the newest addition to the Cricut EasyPress family, and is a great companion to whatever size Cricut EasyPress you have in your current collection.
  • Cricut EasyPress Mini is perfect for small and/or unique projects like hats, shoes, shirt sleeves, cuffs, and pockets. It even works great on stuffed animals!
  • Cricut EasyPress Mini offers the same benefits and technology as the Cricut EasyPress 2: even heat plate and easy-to-use heat settings for effortless heat transfers.

The EasyPress Mini is the perfect size for working with tiny projects. I especially love using it when I'm sewing  so that I can iron the hems of small projects like this little doll skirt. Our daughter loves playing dress up with her dolls and I wanted to make a fun little Halloween skirt for her favorite doll.  This was so easy to put together so let's get started!

I measured my daughter's 18" American Girl doll for this project so this skirt will fit a doll of that size. First, measure the doll's waist and double it. I measured the doll's waist to be 10.5 inches so I doubled that and measured the fabric to be 21" long. Now measure from the waist to the knee of the doll and cut the strip of fabric. Repeat the step with a white piece of fabric but add 2" to the measurement of the waist to the knee. Cut out these pieces and you're ready to sew!

Cut a piece of double fold bias tape the length of the two pieces of fabric that you just cut out and place it on top of the fabric. Sew the bias tape to each piece of fabric.

When you're all finished, it should look like the picture below.

Using your Cricut Explore Air 2, cut out the images in Cricut Design Space called "No Tricks-Just Treats in everyday iron on colors black and bright teal. Once you have weeded your vinyl pieces, place them on the white strip of fabric.

Preheat the EasyPress Mini for 5 seconds and use the heat setting guide found HERE.

Press the iron on images onto the fabric and press down using medium pressure for 25 seconds. Peel off the vinyl while it is still warm. Continue to do this to each piece of vinyl until you have finished the entire length of the skirt.

Next, place the ends of fabric together and sew down the side seams. Do this on each piece of fabric.

Place the pattern piece of fabric over the iron on vinyl images piece of fabric and sew both pieces together.

Now we're going to make the waistband and the EasyPress Mini is perfect for ironing down the folded over fabric pieces. No need to get out your clunky iron, this little press is SO convienent for this task!

Once you have ironed folded and ironed down the fabric piece, you're going to sew all the way around the skirt and leave a 2" wide opening for the elastic to come in and out.

Cut a piece of fabric the size of the doll's waist and then add an inch. Attach the elastic to the a safety pin and begin to push the elastic through the casing until it comes out the other side.

Overlap the elastics by an inch and sew them together and sew the waistband closed. That's it! You're all finished!

I also made my daughter a matching skirt so she and her little doll can be twinsies for all the fun Halloween parties!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a Happy Halloween!
