Hi there!
I'm so excited to be guest posting for The Wood Connection today. I have a fun project that I think you'll enjoy.
Spring is finally here and with that comes the magic of the Easter Bunny. My 4 year old daughter was concerned about how the Easter bunny would get into our house to leave eggs and treats. "He can't come down the chimney because that's for Santa and he's too little to reach the doorknob," she pondered. We thought and thought about how that old rabbit would get inside our house. Aha! A magical bunny door that only the Easter Bunny could open would be the perfect way for him to get in!
My daughter attentively observes the bunny door in amazement and is counting down the days until Easter. She has even started leaving little offerings of carrots and Easter eggs on the table for the bunny.
Ready to make your own magical bunny door?!
Let's get started!
Supplies used:
Bunny Vinyl
Small Wood Table
Foam Brushes
Paint: Gold, Coral, Cream and Sea Foam
All products available at The Wood Connection
Other Supplies:
Door Hinges (available at Home Depot)
Gold Glitter
Directions:
Paint a light layer of cream paint across the entire slat sign. When the board is completely dry, rub the bunny vinyl onto the sign. Paint a thin layer of sea foam blue paint across the entire board and over the stencil. Once the paint is dry, peel off the stencil. Sand the entire board to get a distressed look.
Paint door hinges gold and allow to dry. Once dry. screw them into the edge of the slat sign.
Paint a thin coat of wood glue to the egg and sprinkle with gold glitter. After it has dried. use wood glue to attach the egg doorknob to the sign.
Directions for the Bunny Table:
Paint top of table cream and allow to dry. Attach bunny vinyl to top of the table and proceed to paint over the stencil using gold paint. Paint the entire table gold and let dry. Peel off bunny stencil.
Using a piece of painters tape, tape off two sections on each table leg. Paint the bottom section coral and the top section sea foam blue.
So there you have it! An enchanting portal from Easter Town right into your very own living room.
There is nothing I love more than to foster imagination and curiosity in children. I think this magical Easter bunny door does just that. :)
Oh my gosh! I'm SO doing this for Brielle!!
