Party Like A Narwhal

A narwhal is an elusive creature but I'm pretty sure it knows how to party. After all, it's the unicorn of the sea and we all know unicorns know a good party when they see one! 

I've always wanted to throw a narwhal party and was so excited when I finally had the chance to have one. I wanted to keep the party sweet and simple but I also wanted it to have a big impact with the little guests. I think it did just that!

The adorable party narwhal cake topper was the inspiration for the party. The light blue and pink polka dots became the color palette  so it was easy to find decor to match. 

Cake is a must for any party and I made a boxed cake using two round pans. I then rolled out marshmallow fondant to cover it. By mixing one piece of white fondant with a piece of pink fondant together, it came out as a beautiful swirled watercolor look that I loved. Of course the narwhal had to top the cake along with candies and "Party Like a Narwhal" cake topper. 

I kept the snacks simple and served narwhal nibbles (popcorn) and ocean water ( plain old water...but the kids thought it was hilarious they were drinking water from the ocean!) The guests loved coloring pictures of their own little narwhal and loved adding stickers and sparkles to their pages.

Each little guests received a narwhal headband, goodie bag filled with sweets and a mini narwhal plushie. 

We all had a blast and partied hard, just like a narwhal!

Ladybug Picnic

My friend's little girl recently turned 1 and I was thrilled when she asked if I could help her come up with some fun ideas for a ladybug picnic party.

Here's what you'll need to put together a fun-filled ladybug party!

The invitations were placed inside mini picnic baskets and handed out to the guests. Who wouldn't love to receive an invite inside a picnic basket? Too cute!

I used my  Cricut Explore Air 2  to cut out these sweet ladybug invitations. All the details of the party were printed on white cardstock, cut out and placed on top of the body of the ladybug. The wings are attached towards the top with a tiny brad so that they're able to open and close.

Echo Park Paper- Good Day Sunshine was the perfect paper line to create these sweet boxed lunches for the little guests. I cut the boxes out using my Cricut, filled them with kid-approved food  and then tied them with red bakers twine and tucked in plastic utensils.

Of course I had to add a few of those adorable adhesive ladybugs to the boxes! 

It's not a party unless party hats are involved! I used my  Cricut machine cut out the darling hats in no time and I added a bit of white tissue to the top and a few ladybugs to the front of the hats.

Bug Juice aka lemonade was a big hit at the picnic with these glass milk bottles.  For added cuteness, attach adhesive ladybugs to the bottles and tie polkadot straws with bakers twine to the bottles as well. 

During the picnic, the kids were given little favor boxes with ladybug bubbles placed inside. They had a blast blowing their bubbles and running around with their ladybug pinwheels. It was the perfect spring activity and kept the kids engaged for a long time! 

After the picnic, the guests enjoyed yummy birthday cake using this adorable Ladybug Party Pack. Ladybug plates, cups and napkins greeted the little guests as they gobbled down all that delicious birthday cake.

As the party came to a close, the guests were given these sweet  little ladybug favor pails filled with cute favors like jump ropes, ladybug notepads and mini ladybug beach balls. 

The kids had a wonderful time and loved this sweet ladybug picnic. It was the perfect party to usher in spring and to welcome all those happy, tiny ladybugs!

Pony Party

My sister's little girl turned 2 in March but her birthday fell on the same few days they were moving to Qatar so they weren't able to do much to celebrate. Since they were coming to stay for the summer, I thought it would be fun to have a big party to celebrate Solvi turning 2!  And what better way to celebrate than with ponies. What little girl doesn't love ponies?

These pony favors were so simple to make and the kids adored them. I spray painted lids from mini mason jars as well as plastic ponies then attached the ponies to the top of the jars using super glue. I loved how they turned out and the kids especially loved the taffy inside.

Each little buckaroo got to take home a pony coloring book...

...and of course crayons to go with the book.

The little ranch hands ate sack lunches filled with cowboy grub out on the lawn. It was a good thing they fueled up because we had a lot of fun games planned!

The kids had a blast playing the pool noodle and balloon game and pin the tail on the donkey but the favorite game they played was panning for gold in the sandbox. The kids each panned for gold nuggets (spray painted rocks) using pie tins with holes punched through them.  Once they found 5 gold pieces, they headed over to the corral to trade them in at the trading post for their very own pony.

The cake I made had layers of pink, cream and purple with lavender frosting. And of course, it had to be topped with a golden pony.  :-)

We all had such a fun time and I was so happy we were able to celebrate with little Solvi!
